The Wallingford Workcamp Project

Wallingford Workcamp

The Wallingford Workcamp Team is a team from my home church in Wallingford that planned and hosted a large scale home repair mission project. After serving on Summer Staff with Group Mission Trips, I came home after the summer of 2015 thinking to myself that my home church could pull this off. In the three years following, myself and co-leader Lorraine Westervelt, along with many other amazing people, negotiated the use of Sheehan High School for lodging, raised over $30,000 for building materials, reviewed and interviewed over 110 applicants for home repairs, selected 54 homes from that pool, coordinated 75+ local volunteers that wanted to be involved, and then watched 337 campers come into our town to work for one whole week in July! It was a true example of how mission is a rallying point for people in today's world and how people want to be involved in good works.
