The Wallingford Workcamp Project
The Wallingford Workcamp Team is a team from my home church in Wallingford that planned and hosted a large scale home repair mission project. After serving on Summer Staff with Group Mission Trips, I came home after the summer of 2015 thinking to myself that my home church could pull this off. In the three years following, myself and co-leader Lorraine Westervelt, along with many other amazing people, negotiated the use of Sheehan High School for lodging, raised over $30,000 for building materials, reviewed and interviewed over 110 applicants for home repairs, selected 54 homes from that pool, coordinated 75+ local volunteers that wanted to be involved, and then watched 337 campers come into our town to work for one whole week in July! It was a true example of how mission is a rallying point for people in today's world and how people want to be involved in good works. Please follow the link below to the Wallingford Workcamp Website to see just how big the impact was to our community, and please explore the rest of the website!
We were blessed to have extensive media coverage of this project! Here are just a few of those pieces!
